Highland Coffee Company has been locally owned and operated by Greg & Natalie Hofer, in the Highlands, since 1999.

Highland Coffee has offered Shade Grown, Fair Trade, Organic Coffees, & Organic Espresso beverages since our opening in 1999. All of our coffees & teas are purchased from suppliers who share our social & environmental concerns, assuring farmers are paid fairly for their products, & habitats are preserved in coffee growing regions.

A portion of the proceeds from many of our coffees support various environmental & social concerns throughout the world, such as the Rwanda Gorilla Fund Coffee which supports the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund,  & all of our Songbird coffees, which help support & preserve various bird habitats in their respective coffee growing regions, just to mention a few.

Organic Milk and Organic Soy milk have always been available as an option at HCC.

Our coffee grounds are given to local farmers and neighborhood gardeners.

All lighting at Highland Coffee is provided by fluorescent bulbs, decreasing energy use from lighting by up to 75%.

Highland Coffee has no heating system. All of our equipment generates enough heat to keep our shop warm throughout the entire winter. If you see our door open in the winter it is because we have a surplus of heat, just from the equipment.

We have always maintained separate collection bins for all glass, plastic, paper, & cardboard recyclables.

Since there is no city recycling service available to businesses for glass and plastic, HCC maintains a separate vehicle for the sole purpose of being able to haul glass and plastic to a recycling center. The owners and staff of HCC personally haul truckloads of recyclables every week. We have recycled multiple tons of plastics, glass and cardboard-paper products since our opening in 1999.
